Supervisor for Ret Ready

  • Job Class: OHE Professional 1
  • Closing Date: 07/02/2018
  • Salary Range: $24.65 – $33.70 /hourly; $51,469 – $70,366 /annually
  • This position will be used to fill up to three (3) positions.

The purpose of this position is to oversee programming at Get Ready’s partner schools, coordinating all school-based college and career readiness initiatives, supervising school-based staff delivering GEAR UP services, providing ongoing training and support to ensure effective implementation, and managing daily program operations at several middle and high schools in the Twin Cities metro area and/or outstate Minnesota. This position has responsibility for ensuring that federal GEAR UP grant requirements, program goals, and target outcomes are achieved at each assigned school site, both at the student and system levels.

Duties include the following:

Manage programming at designated Get Ready partner schools to ensure that productive school partnerships are maintained, interventions are delivered as designed, and all student and system-level target outcomes are generated.

Provide leadership to all school-based staff implementing GEAR UP-funded programming at each assigned site, engage in talent development, and manage employee performance so that applicable labor agreements and plans are equitably administered and all employees effectively perform their assigned job duties to aid in the achievement of program objectives.

Engage in collaborative work to support program, division and agency goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a relevant field
Six years of experience working directly with K-12 systems
Four years of project management and supervisory experience
Previous experience leading trainings on school/district/program-based initiatives
Previous experience facilitating discussions and/or meetings to various audiences

This position requires a high level of professionalism, the ability to manage a diverse team of decentralized staff, dynamic communication, shrewd negotiation, and strong leadership skills. The incumbent must demonstrate an advanced understanding of the principles associated with college and career readiness, public relations, and project management.

The incumbent must demonstrate advanced knowledge of the following:

Basic knowledge of strategies associated with increasing college and career readiness – particularly for students from communities of color and low-income backgrounds
Principles associated with change management, project management and servant leadership
Learning, identity development, pedagogy, andragogy and student engagement
Maintaining good rapport with peers/staff and is able to identify social emotional factors that strengthen relationships
Awareness of personal bias, dealing with uncomfortable situations in a productive and professional manner, and being able to self-reflect
Basic program evaluation and data utilization for effectively driving continuous improvement efforts

The incumbent must be highly skilled in the following areas:

Verbal and written communication across a wide variety of stakeholder groups
Interpersonal and human relations – specifically when interacting with school and district leadership
Promoting racial equity and inclusion
Decisive and steady leadership
Use of technology and current software applications, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
High level organizational skills and attention to detail

The incumbent must have the ability to:

Supervise a diverse team, deliver constructive and critical feedback, and leverage individual staff strengths
Advocate and negotiate on behalf of students, parents, the division and the agency
Effectively navigate difference
Make leadership decisions that are consistent with the division’s mission, vision and core values, while also maximizing program outcomes
Travel and work flexible schedules
Work independently with minimal supervision
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a multitude of partners in the community
Manage complex projects and systems, handle multiple priorities and be able to perform effectively under tight deadlines
